A larger spot size has the advantage of performing the treatment in short time. As the spot size is increased, a lesser percentage of the provided light energy leaves the premises of the area being treated. This enables the laser to penetrate further into the skin and allows a lower energy to be used.
The LightSheer Duet Laser System is a Diode laser that emits laser light at 805 nm non-invasive aesthetic device. The system is equipped with two handpieces: the LightSheer ET with a 9 mm x 9 mm spot size to treat small areas and the new LightSheer HS with a 22 mm x 35 mm spot size to treat large areas. Both handpieces are indicated for the treatment of hair removal, and permanent hair reduction.
The vacuum provides suction to draw and stretch the skin into a large treatment aperture bringing it close to the light source. Vacuum stretching of the skin provides four important benefits: (1) more efficient transfer of energy though the thinner, stretched skin, (2) reduction of fluence needed to achieve efficacy due to closer proximity of the light to target follicle bulbs, (3) reduced density of epidermal melanin, thus minimizing heatinduced damage to the epidermis and maximizing absorption of light by melanin in the hair and follicles and (4) constriction and subsequent blanching of blood vessels within the treatment area thus further eliminating light absorption by competing chromophores. The HS handpiece has three main advantages: treatment is rapid, patient discomfort is minimal so no topical anesthetics are required, and no gel is to be used during treatment. With the HS handpiece, we’ve seen excellent results after 3 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart compared to 5 treatments with the ET alone.
The GentleMax Pro is a dual wavelength laser platform with the most powerful 755 nm Alexandrite laser and with the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser which allows for treatments with high efficacy, high performance, safety and high patient satisfaction. The LightSheerDuet ET handpiece with its sapphire cooling device has been shown to be safe and effective for long-term hair reduction in a variety of skin and hair types. Sapphire device protects the epidermis and, because it is pressed against the skin, moves the hair bulb closer to the upper dermis where the laser energy is at its maximum. The LightSheer’s longer pulse widths and continuous contact cooling sapphire tip minimize skin damage and permit the safe use of higher fluencies, even in dark-skinned patients. The LightSheer laser hair removal device with its chilled sapphire tip is considered the gold standard for laser hair removal.

The laser used in hair removal treatments targets the pigment in the root of the hair, and essentially burns the follicle, damaging it so that no more hair can grow back. If your skin is dark colored, then GentelMax Pro Nd:Yag 1064 nm laser would be the perfect choice and treatment to be performed safely and effectively. To achieve permanent results with specific type of setting it is possible clients with darker skin type will be need more treatments. Dark hairs tend to respond better than light hairs. The laser emits a highly calibrated beam of light which targets the melanin in the follicles, and there is more melanin in dark hair than there is in light hair. As long as the hair is darker than the skin surrounding it, the treatment should be effective. Individuals with thicker or darker hair can be treated with LightSheer Duet 810 nm Diode laser for effective and long lasting results. To maximize the effectiveness of the treatment, at IGBeauty Laser Clinic we recommend you not to wax or use other hair removal treatments in the run up to your treatment.
You can use laser hair removal on any part of your body, but there are some parts which are more easily treated than others. Laser hair removal works very well for facial hair, the bikini line, armpit hair, and hairs on your legs and arms etc. The darker and coarser hair, the more effective the treatment will be.
When you first start your laser hair removal, you can expect to see results of a hair reduction of up to fifty percent following your first treatment. After that, you’ll be required to undertake between 5-7 treatments at four to eight week intervals depending on your skin and hair type. After your final treatment, you can expect to see permanent hair reduction of up to 90% - 95%, some people completely remove their hair permanently.
Individuals may experience swelling or redness on the area they received hair removal treatments. Many describe the feeling as comparable to a sunburn. These side effects will minimize within a few hours or a few days after treatment.
It is important to know that the hair in an active growth phase are most affected by the laser. As all hairs are not in this phase at the same time, more than one treatment will be necessary to achieve the best result. In general, five to seven treatments are required at six to eight week intervals. There are multiple factors that can affect treatment results: hair thickness, hair colour, hormones age and skin colour.
Generally, you should wait about 6-8 weeks between treatments to allow your hair to grow. This growth at the root makes it a better target for the laser.
