Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that usually affects the facial area for a long-term period. It can be categorized by: redness, pimples, swelling, and small superficial dilated blood vessels. The areas most often affected are those of the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. Rosacea can be a very bothersome and embarrassing condition. Untreated rosacea can worsen over time. It is considered to be an incurable auto-inflammatory skin condition but can be treated with modern technology.
The causes of Rosacea are yet to be determined. There are many people who suffer from this skin condition and don’t even know about it. Rosacea can affect anyone of any skin type and color. It is more prevalent in people with a fair complexion who are from Northern or Western Europe. There are certain risk factors that can contribute to the onset of Rosacea such as family history of the condition. In most cases, Rosacea affects people after the age of thirty.
Other circumstances that may worsen the condition include: psychological stress, heat, spicy food, sunlight, cold, alcohol, exercise, menopause, and the use of steroid creams on the face. Rosacea can also be exaggerated by certain emotional factors such as stress, fear, anxiety and embarrassment as those may trigger blushing and further aggravate the condition. More women seem to be affected by Rosacea but men tent to have more severe symptoms perhaps due to the fact that women usually seek treatment earlier than men.
When rosacea first develops, it may appear, and then disappear. However, oftentimes the skin never returns to its normal color, following the arrival of enlarged blood vessels and pimples. Rosacea rarely resolves without treatment.
Early signs of Rosacea can be exhibited by skin redness and the appearance of flushing. In some more extreme cases this condition may resemble sunburn. Other symptoms of Rosacea can include red bumps and acne like pimples which may start to burn or sting. You may also experience swelling up of tiny blood vessels on your nose and cheeks. This redness can cause embarrassment to those affected as it could falsely be attributed to excessive alcohol intake and further stigmatize those suffering from it.
Since Rosacea is a chronic condition, it can often flare-up and reoccur from time to time. The skin may be clear for weeks, months, or years and then an episode may occur again. Severe episodes of Rosacea can exhibit themselves in the form of thickening or changing texture of the skin. This can occur mainly around the nose area and may cause you eyes to become irritated, dry and start to tear up. Although not as typical, Rosacea can also affect the areas of the neck, chest, scalp and the ears.
The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology has proven to be a great treatment for various symptoms of Rosacea. At IGBeauty, we have seen a great deal of success using the IPL photo-rejuvenation therapy with our patients.
The IPL technology is specifically designed to target and minimize pigment issues as well as vascular imperfections. It will also improve the overall appearance of your skin including the reduction of redness, dark spots and acne scars. IPL treatment targets these issues associated with Rosacea. Your technician can customize the laser to treat your exact skin type and optimize the results to your desired final effect.
The laser pulses will be able to penetrate the skin tissue by creating heat and target the desired areas of skin to be treated. Your body will then naturally remove the targeted tissue and skin rejuvenation will begin. This process will stimulate the production of new collagen and elastic fibers. As a result, you will see a visible difference in your skin tone and an overall improvement of your skin.
Your clinician will apply a cold gel to the treated area and this will serve as a bond between your skin and the laser applicator. This ensures that the laser waves penetrate directly to the tissues that are to be treated for a maximum application. It also creates a cooling sensation to maximize your comfort.
The whole IPL treatment session should last anywhere between 15-30 minutes in total.
At IGBeauty, we have had many satisfied patients who have undergone the IPL treatments to specifically address their Rosacea concerns. We have been able to restore their skin tone and texture to exhibit a fresher and cleaner complexion.
At IGBeauty Studio, we are committed to offer an effective way to treat Rosacea and IPL treatment is an ideal solution for it.

When the laser is activated you may experience a warming sensation. There is no pain associated with the IPL treatment therefore you should not experience much discomfort. You may experience some sensitivity around your mouth, eye and cheek areas but this should not last for very long.
Immediately after the treatment, you may experience mild redness but this should have dissipated within a few hours or the next day. Some of our patients have been able to resume regular daily schedules only a few hours after their Rosacea IPL treatment without anyone noticing. You should be able to apply make-up after the procedure in case you experience some visible redness. We advise all our patients to take care of their skin following treatment by staying away from the sun for a few days and applying sunscreen.
For maximum results you would need about 2-6 treatments performed over a period of one-month intervals. We then recommend a regular maintenance schedule of repeated IPL treatment every three to four months.
You should be able to see visible results in only a few short sessions. After a few weeks of your Rosacea IPL treatment our patients have reported noticeable improvements in the overall appearance of their skin. Their skin had less redness and discoloration, brown spots have improved and they experienced a more youthful complexion.
