Lumenis® Photofractional™ is a rejuvenation technology that incorporates two technologies: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and ResurFX™. A number of skin conditions can be effectively treated.
Lumenis® IPL technology is designed to remove undesirable skin pigmentation and unattractive blood vessels. The ResurFX™ laser technology stimulates the production of collagen and skin fibre in the deep layers of skin. Rejuvenated skin becomes more radiant and youthful looking.
Lumenis® Photofractional™ treatments work to stimulate the regeneration of natural collagen one session at a time. Even after the first session, many clients notice measurable improvement in skin tone, colour and texture. With professional treatment, a customized program is designed.
Typically, it will take about 3 treatment sessions for visible improvements to skin texture. With a serious commitment, optimal results can be achieved after about 5 sessions (in 4 week intervals). For many, the improvements are noticeable for up to 6 months following the treatment protocol.
Immediately after each session, there may be some redness or swelling - depending on the treatment settings. These symptoms usually diminish quite quickly, and within a day or two. For the majority of clients, daily activities and routine can resume on the very same day as treatment.
For the comfort of each client, a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin before treatment. Depending on the skin condition, and treatment protocol, sessions last from 15 to 30 minutes. And while some clients may experience some mild prickling, treatments are otherwise gentle.

A non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment is the type of treatment that uses a fractional laser. This laser is able to penetrate beneath the skin. It is completely safe and will not damage the skin’s surface. The underlying skin tissue is heated up without destroying the surface of the skin. As a result, your body will now be able to produce new collagen. Collagen is an important factor in reducing fine lines and wrinkles and keeping your skin looking younger.
This modern skin rejuvenation treatment is less invasive than the typical and much more intrusive ablative laser treatment. The ablative laser removes the top layer of the skin making the treatment much more painful. The pain is not present with the Lumenis M22 non-ablative laser treatment.
This treatment is best used to improve skin tone and texture as well as mild appearances of fine lines, wrinkles and to reduce pigmentation issues. While not as dramatic as the abrasive laser treatment, the effects of this non-invasive treatment still offer significant overall skin improvement.
There is very little discomfort associated with the Lumenis M22 laser treatment. The system comes equipped with a special cooling feature that gets activated between each pulse. Therefore the patient will feel very little to no pain with this procedure. Additionally, the whole treatment only lasts about 15-30 minutes. At the most, the patient will only experience a mild sensation in a form of a sting in the treated area. This sensation will not last for very long and can be easily tolerated by most patients. A numbing cream can also be applied to the treated area to further minimize the patient’s discomfort.
