What Can The IPL Photorejuvenation Treat?

IPL Photorejuvenation procedure is most commonly used to lighten and get rid of sunspots and age related spots. It is also an ideal treatment to minimize brown discoloration on various parts of the body including the face, neck, chest, hands and other areas. This procedure can effectively treat facial redness and flushing associated with rosacea, eliminate dilated blood vessels and broken capillaries on the face, neck and the chest area. It has been helpful in improving skin texture by stimulating new collagen production. With IPL Photorejuvenation we have been able to temporarily reduce facial oil production and thus minimizing the size and visibility of facial pores.

Is The IPL Treatment Effective In Reducing The Appearance Of Blood Vessels, Rosacea and Age Related Spots and Freckles?

The IPL laser is specifically designed to emit light waves that target the red blood cells present in the body (hemoglobin) or brown pigment present in freckles (melanin). When the light beam passes through the skin is then absorbed by either melanin or hemoglobin. This results in damage to the vessel wall or fragmentation of the pigment in melanin. When that happens the tiny vessels and melanin pigment are absorbed by the body and become invisible. This is why the IPL treatment is very effective in reducing the appearance of blood vessels, rosacea related skin problems, age spots and freckles.

How Fast Do The IPL Photorejuvenation Treatments Work?

When undergoing the IPL Photorejuvenation procedure most people would see visible results after about 3-5 months. Each session takes place in 1-month intervals. Some improvement can be noticed after the very first treatment. However, for optimal results we recommend a series of at least 3-5 treatments.

What Can I Expect During The IPL Photorejuvenation Treatment?

Before your IPL Photorejuvenation treatment our skilled skin care professional will apply a cooling gel to the area to be treated. When the laser is applied to your skin you may experience a stinging sensation. This should not cause you too much discomfort and it is usually very tolerable by most people. With each treatment your comfort level should increase as your skin becomes clearer. Depending on the size of the area, treatments usually last anywhere between 40-60 minutes. At the end of the treatment your clinician will clean the treated area and apply a moisturizer with sunscreen.

Is The IPL Photorejuvenation Treatment Safe?

The IPL Photorejuvenation procedure only uses wavelengths of light. Therefore these treatments are completely safe approved by both Health Canada and the FDA. At the most you will experience some mild skin redness. On most occasions makeup can be used immediately after the treatment. You should be able to resume your daily activities without any interruption.

How Long Is The Healing Process After The IPL Photorejuvenation Procedure?

The normal healing process for treatment of veins and broken capillaries can take anywhere from 2-5 days. Your skin can appear slightly redder during that time. This can be resolved with a light make up application. If bruising does appear it should typically subside within 1-2 weeks. When treated for freckles and age spots your skin can appear a bit darker for about 3-7 days. Some crusting may occur but that should clear up within a week.
